Get the Looks: On Point Curly & Coily Styling with Monaè Everett

Recently I partnered with Camille Rose Naturals for a masterclass to teach stylists how to create polished, modern looks with speed and confidence for every curl pattern.

For my signature live class,“Texture Mastery Blueprint: Fast & Flawless Styling for Every Curl Type” at Premiere Orlando, I wanted to demonstrate how textured hair can be sculptural and fashion-forward while staying touchable, healthy, and real.

The looks were about honoring versatility without sacrificing softness or movement. To pull them off, I needed products that would mold, define, and hydrate textured hair while preserving its natural beauty and shine — especially important for editorial, camera-ready styles.

Here are my step-by-steps for both!

Prep for Both Looks

  • Cleanse with Naturals Guava Slip Shampoo and Conditioner.
  • Layer Curl Love Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioner and Spiked Honey Mousse throughout hair, focusing on ends for defined, healthy texture.

Structured Editorial Braid

Look 1: Structured Editorial Braid
  (Monaé Everett)

Step 1: Create five sections: crown (1), sides (2-3), upper back (4), and occipital/ lower back (5).

Step 2: Connect sections 2 & 3 into a single ponytail at the top of the head.

Step 3: Smooth all sections with Curl Maker Styling Gel, focusing on the hairline for sleek edges.

Step 4: Braid all four ponytails with added synthetic hair for length and texture.

Step 5: Pin each braid into structured, sculptural bun shapes.

Step 6: Create two small braids from section 1.

Step 7: Mold them into soft waves, then pin them into the lower ponytail for an added editorial detail.

Runway-Ready Faux Fringe

Look 2, Runway-Ready Faux Fringe
  (Monaé Everett)

Step 1: Create three sections: Ear-to-ear over the crown (1); and divide the back horizontally into upper (2) and occipital/ lower (3).

Step 2: Smooth section 1 into a high ponytail with Curl Maker Styling Gel concentrated on the hairline.

Step 4: Diffuse the ponytail curls until dry. Then, flip them forward to create a faux fringe effect. Pin to secure.

Step 5: Add hair extensions over Sections 2 and 3, styling them into cornrows pinned together in a discreet U shape underneath.

Step 6: Use a few drops of Black Castor & Chebe Pure Strengthening Oil to break up the finished curls and boost shine.

Step 7: Wrap the ponytail base with editorial accessories from my  Artist on the Go Bag for a polished, runway-ready finish.
