Two new OLAPLEX hair masks have hit shelves (and backbars).
The hair-care giant has released its Rich Hydration Mask for medium to thick or dry hair, and Weightless Nourishing Mask for fine to medium hair. Both deliver breakage reduction, shine, and long-lasting hydration.
They launched 12.5-oz. backbar sizes on Aug. 18 for salons only, then 6.7-oz. retail sizes for consumers on Aug. 25.
Along with the brand’s proprietary bond-building technology to strengthen hair, both masks rebuild and reinforce the cuticle, “the hair’s first line of defense,” says the brand.
They do so using biomimetic cuticle technology, a synthetic coating that replicates the cuticle’s natural structure, forming a protective layer that locks in hydration.
The brand says it developed the formulas at the request of celebrity stylist and OLAPLEX Global Ambassador Tracey Cunningham, who gushed over the new releases on social media.
“I wanted a miracle in a bottle and we got it,” Cunningham says, adding that the formulas seal the cuticle for up to five washes.
“When you seal a cuticle, do you know what that means? Smooth. You know what smooth means? Shine.”
